Tracing the Origin Pattern and Categories of Fractal Patterns through jBatik

During this time, the absence of databases and categorization of Batik in Indonesia is one of the shortcomings of batik-scene. Development of jBatik software which has Fractal Dimension Analysis with Fourier Transformation is able to identify Batik patterns and classify them into several categories.

jBatik, for example, is able to conclude that Yogya and Solo batik has similar fractal dimensions with Madura and Garut batik, but Madura and Garut batik itself has their own different dimensions. He also summarized the essense of batik patterns stands between curvature and plane. Eventually, jBatik has succeeded in bringing us further exploration of batik which represents our own cultural identity.
