To raise awareness about the importance of the water cycle, an innovation has been implemented to reimagine Jakarta’s hydrological cycle. This innovation is realized through the processing of water elements and icons of the Water Resources Agency (DSDA) into modern and relevant batik motifs.
These batik motifs are inspired by the water cycle or hydrological cycle, a natural process that describes the continuous circulation of water. This never-ending cycle symbolizes sustainability and serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining ecological balance. In this context, the batik motif becomes a visual representation of DSDA’s role as an integral part of the city’s water cycle.
The design of these batik motifs carries a modern style with easily recognizable icons, representing important elements in the water cycle. The vertical arrangement of the cycle motifs with a horizontal infinity illusion illustrates the continuous nature of the water cycle. Each element in the design is carefully chosen to convey the message about the importance of sustainable water resource management, while also strengthening the visual identity of DSDA in a modern cultural context.
Through this approach, it is hoped that the community can better understand and appreciate the importance of the water cycle for the sustainability of life in Jakarta. This batik is not just a patterned cloth, but also an effective educational medium to increase environmental awareness.
