When we saw the Grab and the Microsoft logo, we immediately remembered the river and the lush ecological landscape in Indonesia. After doing research, we found a batik that is possible to be processed with the collaborative story of these two companies, namely Batanghari batik from Jambi. Batik Batanghari, inspired by the longest river in Jambi which is the main transportation lane for the residents’ boats there. This river is connecting, just like Grab. With jBatik software, Batik Fractal then made a contemporary motif, transforming the Grab logo into a river shape and the colors of the Microsoft logo as a striking but still harmonious background. Working on collaborative designs like this proves that batik is a flexible art and can accommodate the diversity of Indonesia in any form.
Ketika melihat logo Grab dan logo Microsoft, kami langsung teringat pada sungai dan lanskap ekologi yang subur di Indonesia. Setelah melakukan riset, kami menemukan sebuah batik yang memungkinkan untuk diolah dengan narasi kolaboratif dua perusahaan ini, yaitu batik Batanghari dari Jambi. Batik Batanghari, terinspirasi dari sungai terpanjang di Jambi yang jadi ruang transportasi utama perahu-perahu warga di sana. Sungai ini adalah penghubung, sama seperti Grab. Dengan software jBatik, Batik Fractal lalu membuat motif kontemporer, mentransformasi logo Grab jadi bentuk sungai dan warna-warni logo Microsoft sebagai latar yang mencolok namun tetap selaras. Menggarap desain kolaboratif seperti ini membuktikan bahwa batik adalah seni yang fleksibel dan bisa menampung keragaman Indonesia dalam bentuk apapun.
